Site Update week commencing November 12th

Work is now underway on two areas of Merrywalks.

On the King Street entrance area the hoarding will be going up this week in preparation for the scaffolding on November 19th. There will also be some strip out work and light demolition to the empty units on the King Street side of the development.

This phase of work which will transform the main pedestrian entrance and the stores fronting King Street is being completed by Barnwood Construction.

In the car park Berry Systems will be working on the barriers on each floor and there will be a noticeable decrease in fencing on site. Concrete repair work will be undertaken on the Halfords floor levels along with decoration works and electrical refurbishment work also ongoing.
Here’s a daily breakdown of the car park works throughout the week:

Monday – Blastracking the car park on level 4a, 4,3a and also to carry out blastracking to the pedestrian ramps from 4a-4 and 4-3a.  Resin coatings will also start to go down on level 4 restricting.

Decorating will continue on level 2 where render panels are now complete and this will take about ½ day to complete meaning that one side of level 2 will be closed for parking for a temporary period.
Tuesday – Resin coatings to be applied to level 4a and 4.  Tuesday will see a rerouting of the driving isle for traffic on level 4a to the outer edge of the building.  Barrier systems are in place now to accommodate the traffic flow.
Wednesday – Blastracking will continue on level 3a-3 to 1/3 of each floor closing of half of the floor of from parking these off for a period of time.  Resing coating will continue.
Thursday and Friday – Resin coatings are to continue down to 3 and 3a with segregated traffic management in place as the floors are completed.

The car park refurbishment includes new efficient lighting, as well as concrete repairs and a new vehicle exit. Landscaping and a new, state-of-the-art waterproof flooring system are also part of the improvements and car charging points are going to be installed.
